You have most likely researched home hair removal devices like No No and TRIA. Please note that such devices tend to be underpowered, and they might not remove hair permanently. Electrolysis is a good option for permanent hair removal, especially for small areas like the eyebrows, but it should be done by trained professionals, and it take a long time.
Over the past several years, Laser Hair Removal has gained increased popularity and credibility in the medical field, as a potentially permanent hair removal method. Results for hair removal by laser are:
1. Consistent
2. Reproducible
3. Up to 60-100% hair reduction depending on the skin type, hair color, thickness, location, and other parameters.* Your individual results may vary.
4. …after all, Beauty is Power®, so let us help you improve your outer beauty and have smooth, silky skin with laser hair removal.
Best areas for Laser Hair Removal treatments
Bikini hair removal, for instance, is a popular area for laser hair removal. This hair is usually frequently shaved, it is coarser than hair in other areas, and it responds well to the treatments. Underarms also respond well. Unlike coarse hair, fine facial hair, such as the hair on the cheeks and facial sides, responds poorly. As well, darker hair responds better then blond or ginger hair. These are just some examples to help explain what to expect from your laser hair removal or reduction. You might have heard or read elsewhere that hair removal or reduction is permanent or guaranteed for a certain time period. In reality, it is not. But, with proper technique and other factors, you may be able to achieve 60-100% of hair reduction. According to the FDA, permanent hair reduction is defined as a long-term stable reduction in the number of hairs re-growing after a treatment regimen. What you can expect from the Boston-Providence Skinsational Laser Hair Removal Center
Recent expert opinion and observational evidence suggests that seven (7) treatments are required for better results in laser hair removal. At Skinsational Laser Center, we offer eight (8) treatments in our regimens plus four (4) additional maintenance treatments, or one treatment every three months, in order to help you achieve maximum laser hair removal results. As we are a medical aesthetic clinic, at Skinsational Laser Center a medical doctor will be directly involved in your treatment, as opposed to having an off-site “supervising” role. During your initial consultation, you will meet our staff and express your needs to us. We will, in turn, discuss it in detail with you and offer you realistic answers and expectations. You should note that results may vary from person to person. In case we find you unsuitable for a successful treatment, we will advise you. We value both your time, your investment, and our credibility. We will give you realistic expectations about your potential hair reduction results. We will not offer you any empty promises regarding potential outcomes or prices – our laser hair removal prices are published here on our website, and we guarantee the best prices in Rhode Island. After we have agreed that you are a good candidate for laser hair removal treatment, you will be given a health questionnaire to complete. We will go over pre- and post-treatment instructions, what to do and what to avoid, in order to obtain the best results. How Laser Hair Removal Works?
The Skinsational Laser Center’s Lasers work by destroying the blood supply to your hair follicles and/or the melanin in the hair follicle. The blood supply will be destroyed, and when this blood flow is gone, the hair follicle and its active parts will shrivel and die. There are several phases in the follicle growth cycle: early growth, active growth, regression and resting. A hair follicle in the active growth phase contains engorged blood flow and will be affected on your treatment day. A resting follicle has less blood supply and will not be as affected by treatment. The energy delivered by the laser will generate enough heat to destroy your affected hair follicles. Because your hair follicles are constantly in various stages of their life cycles, you need several treatments, every 5-7 weeks apart, in order to treat all of the hair growth cycles of the hair follicles, for a total of eight (8) sessions. At the 2007 Society for Lasers In Medicine and Surgery meeting, data presented suggested that on average at least 7 sessions are typically needed. Our laser technology has many safety features. Its depth of penetration goes to the very deepest follicle and people of all skin colors can be safely treated. Most lasers in the market, with a shorter wave length, target only melanin – a pigment that we have in our hair follicle. That results in heat absorbed into the skin, often not deep enough to effectively destroy a hair follicle, and such lasers have a higher incidence of skin reactions and damage. With the laser technology we use at the Skinsational Laser Center of Rhode Island and Southern New England, we can select the appropriate Laser for your skin type. That means that regardless of tanning status, you are assured additional safety and minimal likelihood of side-effects. Your comfort, safety and happiness are our primary goals, and your results may vary.Laser Hair Removal Absolutely Can Work for You

At Skinsational by Dr. Luciano, we want you to be completely informed in order to make the right choices about your beauty and care treatments – so please read through these FAQs about hair removal, and then schedule your no-obligation consultation with Dr. Luciano and his staff.1Can blonde or red-hair be laser removed?
Even the fairest of blondes or red-hair may have enough pigment in their hair for the laser to work. Still, we prefer to see these patients for a free consultation. If we don’t think you are a good candidate, we will tell you right away so that you don’t waste your money. One thing is certain, if you have very light hair, it is important that your skin be very light to get the best results. We strongly recommend that you DO NOT USE TANNING BEDS, SPRAY-ON TANS OR SELF TANNERS while undergoing laser hair removal treatment!
2Can I pluck or wax my hair in-between treatments?
No. Plucking or waxing pulls the hair out of the follicle and may disrupt the growth cycle. Shaving is permitted, and we will explain to you how to shave-safe, in order to help prevent razor bumps and side-effects.
3Does it hurt?
Only 10% of our patients use topical anesthetic creams/ointments during laser hair removal. We use an exclusively compounded topical anesthetic. We recommend that this medication only be used on a few areas at time due to potential toxicity issues associated with large doses of lidocaine. We will apply it to the areas about 30 minutes prior to your treatment, so you will be require to arrive earlier.
4How about medications I might be taking?
We need to know if you are taking Tetracycline, Accutane, Hydroquinone, Retinoic Acid or Gold injections, as these medications might increase your sensitivity to the Laser.
5How many treatments do I need?
How many treatment you need will depend on your number of growth cycles and how hair-free you wish to be. Because a hair follicle can only be destroyed in an ” active growth ” cycle, your treatments have to be timed accordingly, usually 6 weeks apart approximately. Certain areas of faster hair growth, such as the face, can be treated every 4-5 weeks. The average clinic offers six treatments, 6 weeks apart. However, there is current observational and expert opinion that at least 7 treatments may be needed to get you the best results. We offer 9 sessions in our treatments for Laser Hair removal for the same price as 6, simply because our goal is to achieve excellent results for you.
6I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Will Laser Hair Removal work for me?
Yes, and it works quite well. PCOS patients are women who have a “hormone issue” that results in a male pattern of hair growth. This is often both a physical and emotional issue for these patients many of who are on medical therapy. Pills will not make a noticeable difference in your hair growth but lasers will get reduction of anywhere from 60-80%. Our goal is to reduce the maintenance that you have to do substantially and reduce the growth of unwanted facial hair tremendously. We tell all of our PCOS patients to expect to do touch up sessions anywhere from 2-3x/year after completing a package. The results in the PCOS patients are some of the most rewarding to us. These women also have increased hair growth on other body parts including the back, buttocks, neck and more and we can treat these areas as well.
7I’ve heard that I can dye my hair darker to help the laser be more effective. Is this true?
At the most recent Society for Lasers and Medicine meeting, the overwhelming consensus was that this technology is extremely labor intensive and does not work. We do not use these products, but will continue to monitor the situation.
8Is it safe?
The beauty of our technology is that it effectively destroys the hair itself without harming the surrounding skin. You may be a little red afterward, but that typically goes away in a matter of hours. As with all medical procedures there is a slight degree of risk, and we will discuss this with you thoroughly when you come in for your consultation.
9What about side-effects?
While side-effects are rare, some patients may have a swollen appearance to the follicles for a few minutes after treatment. This usually resolves before the patient leaves the treatment room. Because the Laser generates heat within the follicle, there is a risk of a small water blister. Local pigmentation may develop, which is usually responsive to topic creams, and it resolves with any problems. Please inform us, as soon as possible, of any problems.
10What is the cost for laser hair removal?
Skinsational Laser Center offers you our guaranteed best price in Rhode Island for Laser Hair Removal. If you can show us a serious proposed treatment offer with the same quality of treatment and for the same areas of the body, we will beat that price by $50!
11When can I resume my normal activities after laser hair removal?
Immediately!
12When will I notice the results?
Approximately three weeks after your first treatment, you will see the initial results. It is very pleasing. However, you need to remember that we recommend a series of eight treatment, approximately six weeks apart, for the best results. Remember, your body tends to make hair again.
13Which ethnicities have you treated?
Here are some of the homes of origin of people we have treated: Greece, Armenia, India, Mexico, Spain, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Brazil, Canada, Soviet Union, Barbados, Italy, France, England, Panama, Guatemala, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Australia, China, Africa, Laos, Thailand, Portugal, Ireland, Argentina and more. If you don’t see your country of origin here, we probably just missed it!
14Why choose our laser systems over other laser hair removal systems?
Our Laser technology is considered the gold standard in the laser industry because of its long history of safety and effectiveness on all skin types. It can rapidly treat large areas without the limitations of older technologies; the system’s longer wavelength allows it to be used safely and effectively on patients with light or dark skin as well as tanned skin.
Our EXPERIENCE is probably the most important issue when you consider options. It’s your health! We are experienced and can offer you realistic outcomes, in the utmost safest possible way.
